The Philippine Historical Association (PHA) will celebrate the 118th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence with a colloquium to be held at Bulwagang Bonifacio, PUP Sta. Mesa, Manila on June 16, 2016. The theme for the said event is “Philippine Government through the Years: From Bonifacio’s Haring Bayang Katagalugan to Rizal’s República Federal de Filipinas?”
Dr. Pablo Trillana,
former president of the Philippine Historical Association and former chairman
of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines will lecture on “Rizal’s Prediction: A Federal
Republic”; Dr. Emmanuel Calairo of De La Salle University - Dasmarinas will
speak on “Bid for Independence: Genesis
of the Philippine Government”; Mr. Ian Christopher Alfonso, history
researcher at the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, will
discuss “Bonifacio’s Haring Bayang
Katagalugan”; and lastly Dr. Raul
Sebastian, chairperson of the Department of History of PUP, will talk about “Understanding Philippine Socio-Political Realities in the Post-War Era.”
Previous colloquia were held at Aguinaldo Shrine, Kawit,
Cavite (2007); Casa Real Shrine, Malolos, Bulacan (2008); National Historical
Commission of the Philippines, Manila (2010); University of Batangas, Batangas
City (2011); Kalinga Apayao State College, Tabuk City, Kalinga (2012); and at
the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Intramuros, Manila (2015).
