Historians to hold assembly and election of organization officersby Precie Catherine C. Cuarto
QUEZON CITY, Jan. 12 (PIA) -- The Philippine Historical Association (PHA) will be having its General Assembly and Elections for the Board of Governors for 2012 at the Student Center Auditorium, Tan Yan Kee Building, University of Santo Tomas, Sampaloc, Manila, on January 29, 2012, from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Jonathan Balsamo, PHA public relations officer, made this announcement today during Talking Points radio program aired over People’s Television-4 and Radyo ng Bayan stations nationwide.
Balsamo said the PHA would gather around 300 members, mostly history teachers and professional historians, who are dedicated in strengthening the Filipino identity by providing “meaningful” records and studies of the past.
Interested parties may send SMS to 09062020274, or e-mail, email@example.com, until January 25, 2012 to confirm attendance.
Participants will be charged a P100 registration fee, which will cover food, refreshments, and other contingency expenses.
The PHA is a professional association of historians countrywide, which was founded in 1955 by noted historians such as Encarnacion Alzona, Gabriel Fabella, Gregorio Zaide, Nicolas Zafra, Celedonio Resurreccion, Teodoro Agoncilllo and Esteban de Ocampo.The PHA is also affiliated with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, and the Philippine Social Science Council (PSSC). To all PHA Members:
In accordance to the Constitution of the Philippine Historical Association, the General Assembly and Election for the Board of Governors for 2012 will be held on the last Sunday of January 2012 (January 29, 2012) at Student Center Auditorium, Tan Yan Kee Building, University of Santo Tomas, España Avenue, Sampaloc, Manila, 8:00 to 11:30am.
Only members in good standing and who are physically present may be nominated and voted upon. No proxy votes will be honored.
A registration fee of Php100 will be collected from the participants to take care of the food, refreshments, and other contingent expenses.
The new Board of Governors will meet to elect the officers of the association for 2012.
Participation must be confirmed with Mr. Jonathan Balsamo at 09062020274 or through email at firstname.lastname@example.org on or before January 25, 2012.
